Introduction to sources of energy: Conventional & Renewable. Introduction to thermodynamics and Properties of Fluids. Vapor Power Cycle and it's components: Steam Generating Units with Accessories and Mountings; Steam Turbines; Steam Condensers. Gas Power Cycle and it's components: Gas Turbine; Compressor. Introduction to Internal Combustion Engines and their cycles. Refrigeration and Air conditioning: Vapor Compression & Vapor Absorption Refrigeration Cycle; Refrigerants; Applications of Refrigeration Cycles. Fluid machinery: Impulse and Reaction Turbines; Fans, Blowers and Compressors; Rotadynamic and Positive Displacement Pumps. Basics of Conduction and Convection Heat Transfer: Critical Thickness of Insulation.
